1:00 p.m., 2nd Wednesday of the quarter (Jan, April, July, Oct.) (NOTE: Due to COVID concerns, meetings are being held via ZOOM until further notice)
Haywood County Senior Resource Center, 81 Elmwood Way, Waynesville
Based on guidelines set forth in North Carolina General Statute 131D-31, this committee works to ensure quality care for elderly and disabled adults placed in long-term care facilities.
A total of ten positions on the Adult Care Home Advisory Committee are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
Vacancies are posted to the Haywood County Government website and sent to the publication sunshine list as they occur. (Exception: one position is held by an aging and adult services social worker. When rollover occurs in the social worker position due to job changes or retirement, an appointee will be recommended by local DSS administration rather than being posted publicly.)
The Ombudsman for the Southwestern Commission reviews and interviews all applicants, then submits selected candidates to the state for approval prior to making appointment recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners.
Members are appointed to an initial one-year term, after which they are eligible for reappointment to a three-year term.
