The Friends of the HCPL is a non-profit, volunteer organization, dedicated to supporting library staff, library activities, and promoting the library to the local government and the community. The Friends are volunteers who give their time and effort in support of the library. Membership is open to anyone interested in supporting the library and volunteers are always welcome.
The book shop raises funds for the library year-round while putting low-cost books into the hands of the community. All books are donated by the public or weeded from library collections. The staff is all volunteer and all proceeds benefit library activities and programs. Come by to shop, donate books, or volunteer. Donations accepted during book shop opening hours only. Please review our donation policy before donating.
To be a Friend of the Haywood County Public Library, fill out a membership form and return it at any library branch, the book shop, or mail it to the address on the form. Annual dues help our library to continue to be one of the best - please join now!
Our volunteers are what make the organization so vibrant and special. We need help with staffing the book shop, gardening activities around the Waynesville branch library, publicity, social media, and other activities. You can also serve on the Board as an officer, director, or committee head.
