A quorum of the Haywood County Board of Commissioners will be attending an informational public meeting on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Pisgah High School Media Room, 1 Black Bear Drive, Canton, NC.
The purpose of the meeting is a public forum called “Canton Strong-Looking Forward,” hosted by Congressman Chuck Edwards, to discuss the future of the Town of Canton with Mayor Zeb Smathers of Canton and Mayor Darrell Hinnant of Kannapolis following the closing of the Pactiv Evergreen paper mill.
There will be no official Haywood County business conducted at this meeting and the Commissioners will not have a role in the presentation.
