RESOLUTION TERMINATING THE PROCLAMATION OF A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19
WHEREAS, a Proclamation of a State of Emergency for Haywood County was declared on March 15, 2020 to deal with the spread of the novel coronavirus and COVID-19, which were identified as serious public health hazards; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the authority contained in N.C.G.S. Chapter 166A (Article 1A), N.C.G.S. Chapter 14 (Article 36A) and Chapter 31 of the Haywood County Code of Ordinances, Chairman L. Kevin Ensley, of the Haywood County Board of Commissioners, proclaimed a State of Emergency within Haywood County on March 15, 2020; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with that proclamation the resources of county government were marshalled, joining the forces of the Federal and State governments, in an unprecedented worldwide effort to respond to the spread of the virus; and
WHEREAS, at the local level the Haywood County Health Department, Sheriff’s Department, School System, businesses, churches and individuals responded with an outpouring of resources and generosity to first contain the spread, and then vaccinate against the virus; and
WHEREAS, the conditions which led to the state of emergency are now being dealt with on an on-going basis by the citizens and their government; and
WHEREAS, the state of emergency declared by Governor Roy Cooper is now cancelled, effective this date,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS:
The above-referenced county proclamation of a state of emergency and all provisions adopted pursuant to it are hereby terminated, effective 8:19 p.m., August 15, 2022.
