Each year, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) provides funding to local governments for hundreds of critically needed community i8mprovement projects throughout the state to assist with co9mmunity development projects that serve low- and moderate-income persons.  These community improvement projects are administered by Rural Economic Development Division under six (6) grant categories.  Types of programs funded include Community Housing, Building Reuse, Public Infrastructure, Demolition, Disaster Recovery and Coronavirus Program.  The purpose of this public hearing is to receive citizens input as to the needs of low- and moderate-income residents and neighborhoods within the County.  Based on the needs identified, the County may be eligible to apply for CDBG funds to address those needs.

Should the County choose to apply for any CDBG funds during FY 2020-2021, a second public hearing will be held directly concerning that specific project and application. All interested persons are invited to attend this hearing. Auxiliary aids will be supplied to the disabled if requested five days prior to the public hearing. Persons needing special assistance or non-English speaking persons desiring to participate in this hearing should contact the David Francis, Haywood County Program Administration Economic Development at 828.452.6625 or Relay North Carolina by dialing 711 or 1.800.735.0533 (TDD) for the hearing impaired.
