[ARCHIVED] 2 Public Hearings for 7-20-2020 have been canceled

Please be advised the following two public hearings have been canceled and will not be held today at the Board of County Commissioner’s Meeting at 5:30 p.m. as previously scheduled:

1.  Public hearing to receive citizen input regarding submittal of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

2.  Public hearing for Haywood County’s application for a $750,000 Community Development Block Grant as part of the Neighborhood Revitalization Grant Program from the North Carolina Department of Commerce on behalf of Mountain Projects for a workforce housing development to be located in the proposed Mountain Meadows development off of Woodlawn Circle in Clyde, North Carolina, being a 7.4 +/- acre parcel (#8627-84-4537).

The public hearings for the Community Development Block Grant together with the Haywood County Board of Commissioners in support of the Mountain Projects’ proposed Mountain Meadows workforce housing development has been canceled.  The decision to not move forward with the development was jointly made by Mountain Projects and the County due to the inability to meet the CDBG application requirements within the very truncated filing timeline.  Significant issues were encountered regarding road construction within the development as it related to public subdivision requirements that would potentially reduce the number of home sites to a level that would impact affordability.

An amended agenda for this meeting has been posted to our website.
