The Final Day to Apply for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program is Friday, July 11, 2025

The final day to apply for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program in Haywood County is Friday, July 11, 2025.

Helene reminded us of the importance of protecting our homes from natural disasters. If your property was impacted or is at risk, Haywood County's Hazard Mitigation Program may be able to help you recover and prepare for the future. Eligible homeowners may receive assistance through:

✔️Acquisition (Buyout Program) – Sell your home located in a flood zone to Haywood County.
✔️Elevation – Raise your home above floodwater levels.
✔️Reconstruction – Move or rebuild your home safely outside the flood zone.
✔️Landslide Assistance – A new program addressing landslide risks to homes and structures.

How to Apply:
-Download the application at https://readyhaywood.com/hazard-mitigation/
-Email your completed application to mitigation@haywoodcountync.gov
-Or apply in person at the Helene Recovery Center, located at 157 Paragon Pkwy APT 202, in Clyde. The center is right beside Tractor Supply. They are open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
-Residents who have already submitted applications and wish to check the status of their claim can email mitigation@haywoodcountync.gov or call 828-476-0285.
