Whether it's his quiet yet crucial contributions to safeguarding our community during the challenges of COVID-19, his hands-on involvement in delivering supplies to those most affected by Tropical Storm Fred, or his efforts to establish support systems for individuals displaced by the closure of the Canton Paper Mill, his genuine care for people and our community shines through in all that he does. "

Prior to his role as Director of Economic and Community Development, David Francis began his public service journey in Haywood County Schools and later served as the Haywood County Tax Collector. His extensive experience and deep-rooted commitment to public service have been instrumental in shaping the landscape of Haywood County.
David will retire from Haywood County Government and transition to his new role as the President and CEO of the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce in July 2024.
His passion for public service and commitment to community betterment will undoubtedly continue to leave a lasting impact on Haywood County.
